In 2024, crime in Arab society continued to spiral out of control, with 230 Arab citizens losing their lives through circumstances of crime and violence.
Following 2023, which marked a record year for crime with the number of victims more than double compared to 2022, the number of victims in 2024 remained at a similar high level as in 2023, significantly higher than in previous years. This figure is particularly alarming given the war between Israel and Hamas, which began on October 7, 2023, followed by the conflict with Hezbollah—both of which led to an increased security presence across the country.
In 2024, severe crime continues to impact all aspects of life in Arab society, remaining the top concern, as highlighted by a November 2024 survey conducted by the Abraham Initiatives. The survey found that both Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel perceive crime as the greatest challenge facing Arab society in Israel.
