The government has invested billions in fighting crime, but the responsible Ministries show no obligation or accountability, not even reporting how budgets are being utilized, if at all. This is only one of the problems in implementing the five-year plan to fight crime and violence in Arab society.
Co-CEOS Amnon Be’eri-Sulitzeanu and Shahira Shalaby took part in the State Audit Committee meeting on the implementation of GR 549 and the Israeli Police’s Handling of crime in Arab society.
MK Mickey Levy, who chairs the committee, and MK Yoav Segalovich, who was instrumental in developing GR549 during the previous government, led a lively and frustrating discussion. TAI’s Monitoring Report was cited throughout the discussion.
