Ruth Lewin-Chen, TAI’s Deputy Executive Director of Programs, highlights a longstanding pattern of failure by Israeli law enforcement to address violence in Arab communities. Her article, originally published in Hebrew in Haaretz, presents disturbing data showing that, excluding police-caused killings, only 20 of 240 cases from 2025 were “solved” by early 2026. Overall, the clearance rate for killings of Palestinian citizens was just 8.3%, compared with roughly two-thirds in Jewish society – a gap that has grown under the current government.
