Media as a Shared Space
The Media as a Shared Space Initiative aims to increase the visibility of Arab society in Israeli mainstream media. A recent study found only 2% of news items referenced Arab citizens of Israel. This lack of coverage results in a lack of knowledge and connection within Israel's society.
The Abraham Initiatives works with media outlets by providing Arabic language and culture courses to Hebrew-speaking journalists. The program takes journalists on tours of Arab towns within Israel, allowing them access to people and places they might otherwise never have encountered. This initiative increases in-depth coverage and creates a discourse with media outlets about their coverage of Arab society.
